NORTH CITY HOOPS RULES
- Modified FIBA Rules
- Timeouts may be called during live ball play if the team has possession
- Two 24 minute RUN TIME halves – Last 2 minutes of the second half is stop time along with the last 10 seconds of the first half to avoid players fouling on purpose. Point difference must be 10 or under.
- Penalty will be on the 8th team foul and will result in an automatic 2 shot penalty – there is no “one and one” penalty.
- In the last 2 minutes of the 2nd half, if a team isn’t in penalty they will automatically have 1 more foul to give and the subsequent foul will put them into penalty
- Teams may use one 30 second in the first half and two 30 second timeouts in the second half – timeouts will not carry over into the second half if not used in the first half
- Timeouts can be called during live ball situations
- If a timeout is called and the team has no timeouts left a technical foul will be assessed to the team – opposing team will get possession of the ball
- If a timeout is called in the last two minutes of the second half in a team’s backcourt, they will have the option to advance the ball to the front court (even if called on live ball) – promotes better and more competitive endings to games
- In the event of a tie, there will be a 2 minute overtime followed. If the game is still tied, a sudden death period will be played – first team to score 1 point (2pointer, 3 pointer or free throw). Playoff games will go to another 2 min overtime.
- Players who receive 2 technical fouls (or receive a disqualifying foul) during a game will be ejected and serve a 1 game suspension – we have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to referee abuse. Respect their call and respect them.
- Any unsporting like ejections where players have become physical will result in a suspension and possible removal from the league – we are here to win but we are here to have fun and go to work the next day
- Teams may have a MAXIMUM of 12 rostered players. Teams are only encouraged to pick up replacements if they have to. Please respect this to maintain the integrity of the league.
- Players are required to wear a jersey – same colour as their team colour with a number. Players cannot have the same number If a player does not have a jersey, or two players have the same number, their team will receive a team technical for each player with no jersey and 1 technical if players have the same number. 1 shot per technical will be given to the opposing team before the jump ball
- Players cannot participate in the game if their jersey is a different colour than the rest of their team. We have reversibles for sale and it is the team responsibility to ensure all players have the same colour!
- Teams may have 1 non player (coach) on bench. NO spectators allowed to be on the team benches
- Teams that show up late will have 10 minutes off the clock running to have 5 players ready. When and if the game is started the team that was not late will receive 2 free throws and the ball to start the game
- If a team forfeits we will charge that team $100. This will go to the opposing team
- If 24 hours notice is given the $100 fine will not be issued!
- Playoff Eligibility:

- All players must be 18+. Players that are 17 may be accompanied by an adult and sign a special waiver.
- Tiebreakers for playoff purposes:
- Tiebreakers will be based on head to head record, if both teams are still tied then point differential will be used. If still tied after point differential then the team who scored more points will be seeded ahead.
